The idea for the Whiteout Wolves series began while I was working on the fifth book in my first series, Hot Island Pursuits.
I found myself thinking about a particular kind of love story.
What would happen if a young, brave, funny, lovely, and completely authentic woman fell in love with two drop-dead-gorgeous men who possessed the charm, intelligence, resources, and lethal capabilities of James Bond villains?
More importantly, what would happen if both of those dangerous men fell desperately in love with her?
From the beginning, I knew the male leads had to be at least in their forties. They had already built their empires, survived complicated histories, and become extraordinarily wealthy. They were accustomed to controlling every room they entered and solving nearly every problem with intelligence, influence, technology, or ruthless action.
Then they would meet a young woman who was entirely unimpressed by their wealth.
Kelly would feel intense desire for Carter and Dmitri, but she would never abandon her independence to be with them. She would challenge them, tease them, argue with them, and refuse to let their protectiveness become control. Their money might change the circumstances surrounding her, but it would never become the reason she loved them.
That contrast became one of the central foundations of the Whiteout Wolves series.
Carter and Dmitri can provide almost anything money can buy. Kelly gives them what their wealth never could: warmth, honesty, humor, resistance, and a home that feels emotionally real.
A Love Story Between Three People
I was also deeply interested in writing a genuine three-person love story.
Kelly, Carter, and Dmitri aren't a temporary arrangement. Their relationship isn't built around constantly introducing new romantic partners or treating one person as less important than the others.
All three of them are devoted to the relationship.
Kelly loves Carter and Dmitri. Carter loves Kelly and Dmitri. Dmitri loves Kelly and Carter.
Each bond has its own history, emotional language, conflicts, and intimacy. Carter and Dmitri already share a profound connection before Kelly enters their lives. Kelly doesn't come between them. Her arrival helps them understand what they've already meant to each other for years.
The relationship grows because all three characters choose it repeatedly, even when the outside world doesn't understand them and even when their own fears make commitment difficult.
That devotion also shapes the heat level of the series.
For me, high heat becomes much more emotionally meaningful when the characters are fully developed. Physical intimacy carries greater weight when readers understand the characters' histories, insecurities, private jokes, arguments, sacrifices, and complicated ways of expressing love.
The intimate scenes between Kelly, Carter, and Dmitri are the result of their commitment. Their desire grows from trust, possessiveness, emotional vulnerability, and the knowledge that they have chosen one another for the long term.
Dangerous Men and Ordinary Moments
Although the Whiteout Wolves books include danger, powerful enemies, advanced technology, international conspiracies, and morally gray decisions, I always wanted the series to leave room for ordinary life.
I love writing the moments when Kelly, Carter, and Dmitri bicker, flirt, raise their children, care for their pets, travel, eat together, recover from difficult experiences, or attempt to negotiate the practical complications of living as a committed triad.
Those quieter scenes matter because they show what the characters are fighting to protect.
Carter and Dmitri may be capable of extraordinary violence when someone threatens their family, but they also have to learn how to listen to Kelly, respect her independence, admit when they've made mistakes, and participate in the daily work of building a life together.
Kelly brings humor into situations Carter and Dmitri might otherwise treat with terrifying seriousness. She refuses to be intimidated by their reputations, their money, or their tendency to plan for every possible disaster.
Sometimes the greatest challenge two ruthless trillionaires can face is a young woman telling them that they're being ridiculous.
From Taken by the Whiteout Wolves to Book Five
So far, I've published four books in the Whiteout Wolves series, including its prequel, Taken by the Whiteout Wolves.
Across those books, Kelly, Carter, and Dmitri have faced criminal networks, dangerous technology, family pressure, public scrutiny, pregnancy, parenthood, betrayal, and the challenge of protecting one another without destroying the trust between them.
Their relationship has changed dramatically since Kelly first entered their world. They've become partners, lovers, spouses, and parents. They've built a family that doesn't fit traditional expectations but is deeply committed, protective, and loving.
Their story has never been about reaching a point where everything becomes easy. It's about continuing to choose one another as their circumstances, responsibilities, and understanding of love evolve.
Bound to My Ruthless Protectors
I'm currently working on the fifth book, Bound to My Ruthless Protectors.
This story removes many of the things Carter and Dmitri usually depend on.
Their money can't immediately save them.
Their security teams aren't beside them.
Their technology, influence, luxury homes, and carefully constructed systems of protection are suddenly beyond their reach.
Kelly, Carter, and Dmitri are stranded in a frozen wilderness while a powerful organization hunts them. They have limited supplies, dwindling ammunition, and no certainty that anyone knows where they are.
For Carter and Dmitri, survival means revealing skills and experiences they never fully shared with Kelly. She has always known that the men she loves are dangerous, but knowing something in theory is very different from watching them become the ruthless survivors they were long before they became trillionaires.
Kelly must decide how she feels about finally seeing every part of them.
At the same time, Carter and Dmitri must trust that Kelly is capable of knowing the truth without turning away.
The wilderness strips the triad of their modern luxuries and familiar roles. What remains is their experience, their desire, their determination, and their absolute commitment to keeping one another alive.
In that environment, they discover their relationship in a new light.
They aren't protected by wealth or surrounded by the life they've built. They have only one another.
That is the heart of Bound to My Ruthless Protectors: three people facing the possibility of losing everything and discovering that their love is the one thing their enemies cannot take from them.
